Challenges in Shrimp Farming

The current way of monitoring shrimp ponds is too slow โ€” and diseases spread fast.

We spoke with shrimp farms in Chilaw and Batticaloa while building this. Every one of them described the same pattern โ€” they only knew something was wrong after infection had already spread through the pond.

Lab results arrive too late for shrimp disease detection

Water samples travel to a lab and back while ammonia, pH, and oxygen conditions in your vannamei or black tiger shrimp pond keep shifting. By the time the results come in, white spot or black gill may have already spread.

Shrimp behaviour change is easy to miss
